Quick verdict
The Foreman is the big one: 49 by 49 inches, with the same RTS-2 closed-loop controller and 15 inch HMI as the rest of the Gen 2 Elite line. At this size the honest trade-off on any gantry machine is rigidity across the span, and Onefinity answers it with 60mm hardened steel X shafts and 16mm ball screws. It is a lot of machine for the money against an Avid at similar size, with the caveat that the spindle is still separate.
Who this fits best
Shops that want the largest Onefinity envelope with closed-loop motion
Buy this if
Shops that want the largest Onefinity envelope with closed-loop motion. 49 by 49 inch work area covers most sheet goods work without tiling.
Skip this if
Spindle not included, and long unsupported Y span is where a gantry machine loses rigidity first.
What else you still need
Remember that the headline price is not the final price. You still need the router or spindle, a dust shoe, better workholding, and probably the QCW frame if you want the nicest everyday workflow.
Material reality check
This machine shines in wood, plywood, hardwood signs, cabinetry parts, and general workshop use. Light aluminum is possible with the right spindle and setup, but metal is not the reason to buy it.
Better alternative if...
you want a polished turnkey ecosystem at a lower starting price and like having the router included from day one See Shapeoko 5 Pro .
Where it wins
- 49 by 49 inch work area covers most sheet goods work without tiling
- Closed-loop control with braking on Z
- Standalone touchscreen operation
- Largest Onefinity work envelope short of custom setups
- Made in Canada, no tariff for North American buyers
Where it falls short
- Spindle not included
- Long unsupported Y span is where a gantry machine loses rigidity first
- Needs a large dedicated footprint
- Proprietary controller
- Price climbs quickly once spindle and accessories are added
