Our mission
Every specification is sourced from manufacturer pages and verified listings. No fabricated data, no sponsored rankings, no hidden paid placements. Just the numbers, objectively scored so you can make the right call for your shop.
How we source data
- Primary
Manufacturer product pages and official specifications sheets
- Prices
Shop prices from maker stores, AliExpress and partner shops, checked every night. Amazon prices are not shown: the Amazon button opens Amazon's own current price.
- Community
Reddit r/hobbycnc sentiment analysis and long-form forum discussions
- Scoring
Five sub-scores (value, rigidity, precision, ease of use, capability) rated from specs, price and owner reports. The overall score is our editorial judgement of the whole machine, informed by those sub-scores, not a fixed formula. A shop paying us never changes a score.
What the sub-scores measure
Price-to-performance ratio vs. competitors at the same tier
Frame stiffness, vibration damping, and spindle deflection resistance
Repeatability, axis backlash, and fine-detail capability
Setup time, software friction, and beginner accessibility
Maximum material hardness, spindle power, and work-area size
Transparency first
Every page links to its data sources. AI-generated summaries are always labeled as such. Affiliate links help fund the site but never influence rankings or scores. The scoring algorithm is documented above and applied consistently to every machine in the database.
