Quick verdict
The P3 is xTool's flagship desktop CO2 laser: an 80W tube over a 915 x 458 mm bed, with a built-in water chiller, an air assist pump and a motorized base that gives 220 mm of working height. Four cameras, LiDAR ranging and autofocus let you place material, close the lid and leave the machine to position and focus the job. It is Class 1 rated, with eight flame sensors and a CO2 suppression module. xTool claims 20 mm basswood in one pass; Tom's Hardware managed 15.5 mm pine. The catches are the $6,999 price before extras, a 105 kg body that takes several people to lift, and no LightBurn support. It is built for small businesses, not occasional hobby use.
What you still need
Floor space and three or four helpers for a 105 kg machine, plus somewhere to put it (the Mobile Work Stand is $399). A window or wall vent route for the included IF2 2.0 inline fan, or the $2,499 AP2 Max purifier. A 0.6 L CO2 cylinder for the fire suppression ($49, currently a free gift with the Standalone). The $199 honeycomb panel, which is not included. Optional: the RA3 rotary ($349), the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder ($599) and the 5W IR module ($749) for bare metal. Coolant checks and top-ups are part of routine care.Material reality check
Cuts wood, plywood, MDF, clear and colored acrylic, leather, fabric, paper, card, cork and rubber. Engraves all of those plus glass, stone, slate, ceramic, and coated or anodized metal. The CO2 laser cannot mark bare metal; for stainless steel, aluminum and other metals you need the optional 5W IR module, and the P3 cannot cut metal at all. xTool's P3 FAQ lists PVC as a material, but never laser PVC or vinyl: the chlorine fumes are toxic and corrode the machine.Better alternative if
if your work fits a 600 x 308 mm bed, the 55W P2S costs $4,000 less, though it is slower and has no motorized lift base: xTool P2SScores

Pros and cons
Why we like it
- 80W CO2 with claimed one-pass cuts of 20 mm basswood and 25 mm acrylic; Tom's Hardware cut 15.5 mm pine in one pass
- Large 915 x 458 mm bed plus a motorized AutoLift base with 220 mm of working height
- Class 1 rated, with lid interlocks, eight flame sensors and a CO2 fire suppression module
- Four cameras, LiDAR ranging and autofocus: place the material, close the lid and the machine positions and focuses the job
- Water chiller and air assist pump are built in, so there is no separate chiller or compressor to buy
Watch out for
- $6,999 for the machine alone; the stand, honeycomb, rotary, conveyor and IR module are all extra
- 105 kg and 1250 x 780 mm: reviewers needed three or four people to unpack and lift it
- xTool Studio only, with no LightBurn support
- The fire suppression cylinder is not part of the machine; without it the P3 can only beep when it sees a flame
- An owner found the included inline fan's whine hard to bear, and Tom's Hardware saw the head hit loose cut parts on a couple of jobs
