Quick verdict
The F1 Ultra is a desktop galvo machine with two lasers in one enclosure: a 20W fiber for metal and a 20W blue diode for wood, leather and dark acrylic. The galvo head steers the beam with mirrors at up to 10,000 mm/s over a 220 x 220 mm field, so it shines at batches of small items rather than big panels. A camera, autofocus and an interlocked cover make it easy to set up and safe to run indoors. The trade-offs are the small field, a standard fiber rather than a MOPA source, and LightBurn support that xTool's own firmware has been restricting. At $2,999 it is a lot of capability for a small engraving business, but overkill for someone who mostly cuts wood.
What you still need
Fume extraction: route the 3 inch exhaust outside or add a purifier (the $4,659 Deluxe bundle adds xTool's AP2 purifier, the conveyor and the RA3 rotary). The conveyor alone is a $450 step up ($3,449 bundle). Add a rotary for tumblers and rings, fixtures or jigs for repeat jobs, and laser safety glasses rated for 1064 nm and 445 nm if your unit is the Class 4 version or you ever run it with the cover open.Material reality check
The fiber marks and deep-engraves practically every metal, including stainless, brass, aluminum, titanium, gold and silver, and cuts thin sheet (0.3 mm stainless, 0.4 mm brass, 0.2 mm aluminum). The diode engraves wood, leather, cork, slate and dark acrylic and can cut thin wood and dark acrylic, slowly. Neither laser cuts clear or blue acrylic, and glass and ceramics need a coating or marking paper to mark well. Never laser PVC or vinyl.Better alternative if
if your work is mostly metal for paying customers and you want proper color and black marking, step up to the MOPA machine: xTool F2 UltraScores

Pros and cons
Why we like it
- Fiber and diode in one box: metal marking and wood or leather engraving without swapping machines
- Galvo speed of up to 10,000 mm/s makes batches of tags, coins and keyrings fast
- Arrives preassembled and fully enclosed, with a camera for placement and autofocus
- Fiber cuts thin brass and stainless sheet for jewelry blanks
- Standalone now sells for about $1,000 less than its 2024 price
Watch out for
- Small 220 x 220 mm field, so it is for small parts, not signs or panels
- Standard 20W fiber, not MOPA, so color range and black marking on metal trail the F2 Ultra
- The 20W diode is an engraver first; thick wood takes many slow passes
- xTool's March 2026 firmware restricts LightBurn connections, so plan on xTool Studio
- No air assist, and it still needs ducting or a purifier for fumes
