Quick verdict
The TTS-55 Pro is TwoTrees' cheapest current laser: a 5.5W optical diode on a light 300 x 300 mm open frame for $159. TwoTrees' own chart labels it '40W electrical power / 5.5W optical power', and some product images just say 40W, so ignore that number. Wi-Fi, TF card offline jobs and a fine 0.08 mm spot make it a capable engraver for wood, leather and coated metal. Cutting is the weak spot: TwoTrees claims 5 mm basswood and 3 mm black acrylic, but expect several slow passes. There is no enclosure and no listed flame sensor, so it needs supervision and goggles every time it runs.
What you still need
Ventilation or an enclosure with exhaust, an air assist pump, a honeycomb or metal grid bed for cutting, a fire extinguisher (no flame sensor is listed), spare laser goggles for anyone else in the room, risers for tall items, and optionally a LightBurn licenceMaterial reality check
Engraves wood, bamboo, leather, paper, cardboard, anodized aluminum, slate and painted or coated surfaces; stainless steel only faintly (TwoTrees' own chart says 'vague'). Cuts thin basswood, cardboard, paper, cloth, leather and thin black acrylic, usually in several passes. It cannot cut clear or blue acrylic or any metal. TwoTrees' chart lists PVC as engravable: never laser PVC or vinyl.Better alternative if
if you want to cut plywood rather than just engrave, the TS2 10W adds autofocus, a bigger bed and nearly double the power for about $100 more: TwoTrees TS2 10WScores
