Quick verdict
The Laser Master 3 is Ortur's mainstream open-frame diode, and the $299.99 base version carries a 10W optical module on a 400 x 400 mm bed. Its 20,000 mm/min travel and built-in Wi-Fi with a phone app make it quicker and easier to live with than most kits at this price. Ortur also fits a more complete safety package than usual: emergency stop, removable key, tilt detection and exposure time limits. The trade-off is cutting: 10W is an engraving-first power level, and the base set ships without the air pump you need for clean cuts. If cutting is the main job, the 20W version or a 20W rival makes more sense.
What you still need
An air pump (Ortur's Pro Set adds the pump and engraving platform for about $220 more), a honeycomb bed, ventilation or an enclosure, a rotary if you want tumblers (the Rotary Set adds the YRC chuck and feet for about $230 more), extra 455 nm rated goggles for anyone watching, and a LightBurn licence if you outgrow the app and LaserGRBLMaterial reality check
Engraves wood, leather, card, slate, ceramic, anodised aluminium and coated metals, and can mark stainless steel. Cuts thin wood, plywood, card, felt, leather and dark opaque acrylic, with anything over a few millimetres needing multiple passes and air assist. It cannot cut metal and cannot cut clear or blue acrylic. Never cut PVC or vinyl.Better alternative if
cutting plywood and thicker stock is the main job, where a 20W module with the air pump in the box saves a lot of passes: Sculpfun S30 Pro MaxScores

Pros and cons
Why we like it
- $299.99 buys a 10W optical module on a 400 x 400 mm bed
- 20,000 mm/min travel is quick for an open-frame diode at this price
- Fuller safety set than most budget frames: emergency stop, removable key, tilt detection and exposure limits
- Built-in Wi-Fi with Ortur's phone app, plus USB for LightBurn or LaserGRBL
- Arrives largely pre-assembled; reviewers report 5 to 30 minutes of setup
Watch out for
- 10W is engraving-first power: 6 mm plywood and up means several slow passes
- The 10W Basic Set has no air pump, even though the head takes an air line
- Manual focus with a fold-out gauge and no camera
- No flame sensor in Ortur's own safety list, and the beam is fully open
- Low clearance under the laser head limits thicker workpieces without a Z-height adjuster
