Quick verdict
The Mega V 2 XL is MillRight's replacement for the original Mega V XL. It cuts 889 x 889 mm (35 x 35 inches) with a 159 mm (6.25 inch) Z stroke and needs a 1067 x 1257 mm (42 x 49.5 inch) footprint. Linear profile rails on every axis replace the original's X/Y wheels, while the steel rack-and-pinion X/Y drive stays, now with dual Y motors and homing switches that square the gantry. The $2,699 price covers the desktop kit with a pre-wired GRBL control box but no router, mount, bed or stand. Options include router mounts, 1.5 kW and 2.2 kW spindles, Masso G3 Touch control, a vacuum plenum bed, a $359 stand and a 4th axis. It cannot take a full 4 x 8 foot sheet in one setup.

What else you still need
A router (Makita RT0701C or DeWalt DW618) with its matching mount, or one of MillRight's spindles; a bed ($99 MDF or $189 vacuum plenum) or your own spoilboard; the $359 stand or a large, solid bench; a computer running UGS or another G-code sender; CAM software; end mills; and dust collection.
Material reality check
MillRight says the Mega V 2 is best for wood and plastics and a reasonable choice for some aluminum and brass work.

Where it wins
- 889 x 889 mm (35 x 35 inch) cutting area with a 159 mm (6.25 inch) Z stroke
- Linear profile rails on all axes replace the original XL's X/Y V-wheels
- Steel rack-and-pinion X/Y drive with self-squaring dual Y motors and standard homing switches
- Vacuum plenum bed and a stand with steel braces are offered for this size
- Same frame takes Masso G3 control, 1.5 or 2.2 kW spindles, a 4th axis or a laser later
Where it falls short
- The $2,699 XL price has no router, router mount, bed or stand
- Needs a 1067 x 1257 mm (42 x 49.5 inch) footprint plus working room around it
- Kit assembly is required
- The 2.2 kW spindle options need a 220 V supply
- Few independent owner reviews of the Mega V 2 are available yet
