Quick verdict
The 3020 Nova, launched in June 2026, is LUNYEE's attempt to put proper hardware into a desktop footprint: HGH15 linear rails and 1204 ball screws on every axis, an all-aluminium frame and a 710W trim router, for $599. Those are the parts that matter for small aluminium and brass work, and few machines at this price have them on all three axes. The catches are the small 300 x 200 mm area, NEMA 17 motors and a stock router limited to 1/8 inch bits, so it suits small precise parts rather than signs or furniture.
Who this fits best
Makers who want a small but genuinely stiff desktop CNC for aluminium, brass and precise small parts
Buy this if
Makers who want a small but genuinely stiff desktop CNC for aluminium, brass and precise small parts. Linear rails and ball screws on all three axes at $599.
Skip this if
300 x 200 mm is a small work area for the money, and nEMA 17 motors limit how hard the rails and screws can be pushed.
What else you still need
1/8 inch carbide bits for metal, a vise or clamps, cutting fluid or air blast for aluminium, and a dust shoe if you cut wood indoors.
Material reality check
Good for aluminium, brass, plastics and hardwood in small parts. The work area rules out signs and furniture, and steel is beyond it.
Better alternative if...
you want more cutting area for wood and signs at a similar price. See TwoTrees TTC 450 Ultra
Where it wins
- Linear rails and ball screws on all three axes at $599
- A real 710W trim router instead of the usual small DC spindle
- Ships essentially assembled, LUNYEE quotes about five minutes of setup
- Six limit switches and an e-stop as standard
- 65mm mount with a 52mm adapter, so lasers and other spindles fit
Where it falls short
- 300 x 200 mm is a small work area for the money
- NEMA 17 motors limit how hard the rails and screws can be pushed
- ER11 collet on the stock router takes 1/8 inch bits only
- New machine with little independent testing so far
- Trim router is loud compared with a brushless or water-cooled spindle
